Disc Adjusting
The Directional Non-Force Technique® Chiropractic approach does not use typical Chiropractic adjusting methods. The D.N.F.T.® Chiropractic adjustment usually includes an adjustment or several adjustments to the intervertebral disc above and/or below the vertebral segment adjusted. In addition, ligaments and muscles are part of the functional anatomical unit and are adjusted as well. The adjustment is delivered by hand with a contact by the thumb or with a wooden tool in hand to assist in areas of resistance. Only a few ounces at maximum are used in this adjustive thrust.
There are several different kinds of disc problems. Typically, there is a diffuse disc bulge accompanying a vertebral subluxation (alignment problem less than a dislocation causing nerve pressure and dysfunction).
When the condition is more severe, the Intervertebral Disc bulges in a specific direction, although this usually ia accompanied by a diffuse disc bulge. Fortunately, the prognosis is excellent in most cases when almost any disc bulge is present. Why not try a few DNFT® Chiropractic adustments before surgical options are explored?
